A forward look to our July evening meeting on Tuesday 7th July. PLEASE NOTE THERE IS NO INDOOR MEETING IN JULY As is customary for July we take advantage of the longer daylight for an evening outing, rather than an indoor meeting. This year, on the evening of 7th July, we offer you the opportunity to visit, using your own transport, the Gauge Museum, situated on the Station Platform at Bishops Lydeard on the West Somerset Railway. We will be shown round by the curator Ian Coleby (who, incidentally, will also be December's speaker. This will be followed by a very rare opportunity to visit the major ongoing earthworks at the Norton Fitzwarren site where the triangle is being constructed in an award winning collaboration with Freightliner, using redundant main line railway ballast. This site will also be the new location for the Steam Rally which is held each August. As this is a working earthworks and construction site a prior requirement for this part of he visit is that all visitors sign a waiver that they are responsible for their personal safety whilst on the site. A donation to WSRA Funds of £2 per head is requested. Due to the prohibitive cost of hiring a coach for just an evening please use your own transport – we will met on Bishops Lydeard station platform at 19.00 (7.00pm). |
