Welcome to our Web Site

A Guide to the Society's new website:

http://www.westonsmrailwaysociety.org.uk

Do you want to check when the next society meeting will be, and what it's about? Or maybe you've missed the last few meetings and want to catch up with what's been going on in the society, and read about recent trips/ events?

Over the last few months John Mayhew and Ian Chancellor have been working to establish the Societies' very own website, with John providing the technical know-how and Ian much of the content, history, links and photos.

Why have a website? Well, there's five main reasons:

" to help keep members better in touch with what the society is doing

" to promote the society, attract new members, and provide a point of contact

" to provide a record of society activities, with photos and reports. We are gradually adding photos from the archives of past society trips

" in time, to build a selection of pages illustrating and describing features of local railway interest, covering the area from Puxton to Bleadon & Uphill

" to provide links to other key web sites of railway interest.

So what pages will you find? Here's a quick guide to the key menu headings:

Programme: Missed a meeting or two? Forgotten when the next one is, or what it's about? Then here you'll find the programme of forthcoming meetings (and, in fact, for those interested in Society history, the programme back to 2000). There's also details of forthcoming trips.

Reflections: Want to find out more about the recent/ past activities or history of the society, or read about recent trips/ events? You can do this here- or take a trip down memory lane to recall its formation in 1977, and then follow the Society timeline from 1977 right through to the present day, reflecting on our trips/events.
In time, we also hope to add in here text and photos about our local railway line.

About us: Who we are and who we cater for, where we meet and when.

Contact Us, and Links: For feedback, queries on membership or meetings, the Society can now be contacted on e-mail address Wsm1977rlysocy@aol.com

Want to find links to other key railway websites which will help to keep you in touch with the times of special trains, to access the websites of preserved railways, or just find out more about railways- particularly with a local flavour? The links page will help you explore the world of railway web sites.

We would welcome your feedback about the website- any suggestions about its content, is it easy to access, does it download ok, any broken links? Please let us know what you think about it.
