below are the major events, trips and visits which the Society
has been involved in over the years, starting of course with

1977
- Our Inaugural meeting, Tuesday 8th March 1977, at 8pm,
in the NALGO Club, Carlton St, WsM. The first Committee meeting
was held just a week later on 15th March 1977.
Founding
Committee members included Martin Hillier (publicity &
trading Officer), Cliff Bracey (secretary), Ken Baker (Newsletter),
and David Huntley (Chairman)
November
1977 - Roy Patterson elected as Chairman, a post he held
until standing down in November 2005!!
Details
not recorded of the evening coach trips in the first six years
of the Society, but most featured coach trips to view the
remains of closed local railway lines, followed by a visit
to a local hostelry!
1978
-The Societies' first coach trips- in May to the Bluebell
Railway, and in September to the Keighley & Worth Valley
Railway, Haworth

1979
- A proposed
trip to the Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway which was
ultimately cancelled
